چکیده

A theory of electronic Raman scattering in nearly antiferromagnetic Fermi liquids is constructed using the phenomenological electron-electron interaction introduced by Millis, Monien, and Pines. The role of ‘‘hot spots’’ and their resulting signatures in the channel dependent Raman spectra is highlighted, and different scaling regimes are addressed. The effects of self-consistency and vertex corrections are compared to a perturbative treatment of the interaction. The theory is then compared to Raman spectra taken in the normal state of cuprate superconductors, and it is shown that many features of the symmetry-dependent spectra can be explained by the theory. Remaining questions are addressed. @S0163-1829~99!04109-0#

Resonant two-magnon Raman scattering in antiferromagnetic insulators.

We propose a theory of two-magnon resonant Raman scattering from antiferromagnetic insulators, which contains information not only on magnetism but also on the electronic properties in these materials. We argue that the conventional theory does not work in the resonant regime, in which the energy of the incident photon is close to the gap between the conduction and valence bands. We identify th...

خواص الکترونی فلز پادفرومغناطیس UBi2 به روش تبادلی دقیق برای الکترون‌های همبسته (EECE)

This study investigated the electronic properties of antiferromagnetic UBi2 metal by using ab initio calculations based on the density functional theory (DFT), employing the augmented plane waves plus local orbital method. We used the exact exchange for correlated electrons (EECE) method to calculate the exchange-correlation energy under a variety of hybrid functionals. Electric field gradients...

Nearly Antiferromagnetic Fermi Liquids : A Progress Report

I describe recent theoretical and experimental progress in understanding the physical properties of the two dimensional nearly anti-ferromagnetic Fermi liquids (NAFL's) found in the normal state of the cuprate superconductors. In such NAFL's, the magnetic interaction between planar quasiparticles is strong and peaked at or near the commensurate wave vector, Q ≡ (π, π). For the optimally doped a...

Density wave instabilities of fractionalized Fermi liquids

Recent experiments in the underdoped regime of the hole-doped cuprates have found evidence for an incommensurate charge density wave state. We present an analysis of the charge ordering instabilities in a metal with antiferromagnetic correlations, where the electronic excitations are coupled to the fractionalized excitations of a quantum fluctuating antiferromagnet on the square lattice. The re...

Modern Band Theory of Disordered Alloys: Basic Concepts Including a Discussion of Momentum Densities *

An overview of some of the basic concepts in the modern first-principles band theory of disordered alloys is given. The question of how the notion of Bloch energy bands and Fermi surfaces generalizes to the case of the disordered system, insofar as the average electronic spectrum is concerned, is stressed. The theory is illustrated with examples chosen from the work on binary alloys; a few exam...
